Assesment of Organisations

Assessment is a process that aims to accreditate an organization for Viwango certification. It engages Viwango assessors to carry out the assessment process to organizations. Viwango Certification is a strategy an organization can use to further achievement of its mission, ensure professionalism, adopt and maintain high quality standards of its programmes, structures, processes, policies and relations to deliver superior value to its stakeholders.  Certification by Viwango signifies that an organization has demonstrated sufficient implementation of Kenya CSO standards.

Viwango has assessed various organizations in Limuru, Embu, Kwale, Kitui and in Nairobi. Samuel Chege—Program Manager Cheer-Up CBO (APHIA-PLUS KAMILI PARTNER) based in Limuru, stated; “The assessment process has been an eye opener about who we really are as an organization. I believe if we work on the gaps identified from assessment, cheer-Up will grow to be a great organization.” “I have leant the importance of proper orientation of staff before they beginning working in the organization”- Elizabeth from Cheer Up CBO.

What Others said about the assessment: “This is a process I would recommend to any civil society organization that wants to grow” David—Kwale Education Network.

“The Viwango certification mechanism is good, but a lot of efforts have to be made towards ensuring the mechanism is acceptable among donors”- Comment from the donor round table meeting.

Some upcoming assessments this November are with KCDF partners.

Viwango also aims to train more assessors from Poverty Eradication Network, PACT, ACT as well as Action Aid.
